A world where women and girls propel and excel through mental wellness, education, and philanthropy.
To educate, coach, and facilitate mindsets and skillsets that provide agency for women and girls to interrupt generational cycles of harm due to gendered racism.
Women and girls of color around the world are disproportionately disadvantaged in lifelong stability and success due to inequities that stem from gendered racism. We have observed this through the current state of outcomes. This historical problem will continue and exacerbate.
We expect to see an increase in mental health challenges, a decline in education attainment, and a lack of representation in philanthropy for Black women and girls. We know this because we have observed a direct correlation between the lack of access to success and differential treatment based on race and gender.
This issue is complex. Therefore, we must take a straightforward, intricate, and urgent approach to identifying and addressing interventions that are trauma-informed, evidence-based, and culturally adaptable. To test our hypothesis, we need your support in order to more accurately assess, design, develop, implement, and evaluate programming that speaks to and meets the needs of women and girls of color to propel and excel in life for generations to come.
Limited studies of Black women and girls are more likely to ‘problematize’ than promote their success. While there are significant gaps in the research and some momentum of success is brewing, we must be transparent and keep the reality of the lived experience of Black women and girls at the forefront. These truths are just the tip of the iceberg that must be interrupted for a more equitable world for women and girls.
At wholeSOUL, Inc, we use societal trends and evidence-based programming to ensure that women and girls of color, especially those in poverty, can live self-determined lives. We center Black women and girls, and we build intergenerational, female-focused policy advocates and community partnerships to support and sustain our efforts.
Combining policy advocacy and community building allows us to reshape the power structures so that decisions are a better reflection of the values and needs of women and girls of color around the world. Together, we are creating the schools, communities, and world that we all want to live in.
